This is how the lighthouse appeared in the 1960’s. It is located six miles off the extreme north coast of California and is the most expensive lighthouse ever built – $704,633. It was in service from 1892 until 1972. M.A. Ballantyne and a crew of nearly 50 men worked for more than 10 years to complete the project.
